Why Pricewatcha?

Pricewatcha started with a very practical problem.

When we wanted to buy a refurbished iPhone for our son as a Christmas gift, we were looking for an easy way to track and compare prices across multiple platforms. We wanted to see how prices change over time and decide when it actually makes sense to buy.

Surprisingly, we couldn’t find a tool that made cross-platform price tracking simple and transparent. Many solutions were either too limited, too complex or focused on just one marketplace.

So we built our own. Pricewatcha was created to make price tracking simple: add a product link, watch the price and get notified when it’s time to buy. It is a multi-shop price tracker—not limited to a single marketplace.

What is Pricewatcha?

Pricewatcha is a free price tracker and price intelligence platform for consumers, developers and AI Agents. You can monitor product prices across many popular online shops, follow price changes over time and receive email alerts—for example when a price drops or rises, or when a target price you set is reached.

Which platforms are supported?

We have successfully tested many shops and platforms—including Amazon, Apple, eBay, Otto, MediaMarkt/Saturn, Lidl, Temu, Shein, Walmart, IKEA, adidas, H&M, oopbuy, BackMarket, Rebuy, Refurbed, asgoodasnew and Swappie. Many more shops can be detected automatically, as long as they have a publicly accessible product page.

How do I add a product to track?

In the dashboard, use the “Add New Product” form at the top. Paste the link to the product page:

1. Open the product in the shop (Amazon, Backmarket, eBay, etc.).
2. Copy the link from your browser’s address bar.
3. Paste it into the dashboard and click “Track Product”.

Examples — all of these work, with or without https://:

You can include http:// or https://, or leave it out — if no scheme is present, we add https:// automatically.

The link should go directly to a product page, not to a shopping cart, category or plain search results list. The platform is automatically detected and price tracking starts.

For eBay, you can also use the “eBay product search” option. Instead of tracking a single listing, Pricewatcha will monitor the lowest price from the search results for your query (e.g. “iPhone 15 Pro refurbished”).

How was Pricewatcha built and what role does AI play?

Pricewatcha was developed with substantial help from modern AI tools. These include the Cursor editor (AI-assisted coding, reviews and refactoring) and OpenAI’s ChatGPT for architecture discussions, code, tests and copy.

Requirements, product decisions and accountability rest with the people behind Pricewatcha; AI speeds up development and QA but does not replace human review—especially for privacy, shop-specific behavior and reliable price data.

The Pricewatcha service also uses AI/ML in day-to-day operation—among other things to keep improving product capture and price recognition from shop pages as layouts change and new stores are added. Individual cases can still fail, which is why we also support manual refresh.

Is there an API for developers and AI Agents?

Yes. Pricewatcha offers a REST API (v1) for structured price data and product tracking—async-first, with no API key required for search, track and read endpoints. It is suited for price alerts, monitoring, automation and MCP integrations.

Product-level price intelligence (prices, history, trends, URLs) is public through the API. Account data, emails, personal watchlists and alert thresholds are never exposed.

How do I connect Pricewatcha to Claude or ChatGPT?

What can I do in the dashboard?

In the dashboard you see all products you're tracking. You can:

• View price history: See how a product's price has changed over time – whether it's gone down or up.
• Compare prices: Compare the current price with past prices and your set thresholds. Select at least two products and click "Compare". The button is hidden when products with different currencies (e.g. EUR and USD) are selected – a direct comparison is not possible in that case.
• Filter by shop: Show only products from specific platforms – e.g. just Amazon and eBay – and select multiple shops at once.
• Update multiple products at once: Check prices for many products in one go.
• Sort: By shop, product name or price – ascending or descending.

Why is there no price history for a newly added product?

Price history is built up as Pricewatcha fetches a product's price. For products you've just added to tracking, there may initially be no or only few entries. If another user has already been tracking the same product, price history may already exist – data is shared across the platform. With each update, the history grows.

Where can I change my password or manage my account?

In your Profile you can change your password, set your language, opt in or out of marketing emails and delete your account. You need to be logged in.

For Backmarket, Refurbed, Swappie, Rebuy, AsGoodAsNew, Amazon Refurbished, eBay Refurbished and Apple Refurbished, Pricewatcha reads the currently selected variant and builds a comparable title (model, storage, color, battery, SIM). Condition is shown in parentheses. Specs the shop does not list for that variant stay empty — nothing is invented.

How do price alerts work?

In the dashboard you can combine two kinds of email notifications per product:

1. Price changes (“Email Info when”): Turn on Price drops and/or Price rises. After the next price update you get an email when the new price is meaningfully lower or higher than the previously recorded price—without entering a euro amount. For newly tracked products, Price drops is on by default.
2. Price limits (“or when under / or over”): Optionally enter an under and/or over amount and click Save. You get an email when the current price reaches or goes below your under value, or reaches or goes above your over value.

You can use both together. Example: keep “Price drops” on, and also set an under amount as a fixed target. Clear a saved limit with the × in the field; that change is saved immediately.

What’s the difference between “Price drops” and “under …”?

Price drops / Price rises react to the direction of the latest price change (cheaper or more expensive than before). No target amount is required.

or when under … / or over … react to a fixed amount you choose (e.g. “notify me under €500”), regardless of whether the price just moved up or down.

Can I set alerts for multiple products at once?

Yes. You can select multiple products, enter under/over thresholds and apply them in bulk. The “Price drops” / “Price rises” toggles are set per product row.

How often are prices checked?

As a rule, prices are updated every 6–12 hours (depending on the shop). You can also trigger a manual update for any product at any time. Alerts are evaluated when those updates run.

What do price alert emails look like?

The email shows the product, the current price and—if available—the change from the previous price (green for cheaper, red for more expensive). The subject line makes clear whether it is a drop/rise or a threshold alert. When limits are set, you also see a Minimum / maximum threshold reached badge.

You can also delete an alert directly by clicking the corresponding link in the email.

Do I need an account to use Pricewatcha?

Yes. A free account is required to track products and receive price alerts. Registration only requires an email address.

How can I delete my account?

You can delete your account at any time. Go to your Profile and use the "Delete account" option there. Alternatively, you can click here:

This will permanently remove your user account as well as all tracked products and alerts. This action cannot be undone.

How do I unsubscribe from marketing emails?

Every marketing email contains an unsubscribe link – one click is enough, no login required. You can also change this setting anytime in your Profile under "Email notifications".

Is my data safe?

We take data protection seriously. Authentication is handled securely via Supabase. We only store the data required to operate the service, namely your email address and the product URLs and price histories you choose to track.

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies and do not share personal data with third parties.

Why does a product show “Fetching price data…”?

After adding a product, Pricewatcha needs to retrieve the current price from the respective shop. This usually takes 1–2 minutes, but may occasionally take a bit longer. If needed, you can trigger a manual refresh.

Can I track eBay search results instead of a single listing?

Yes. Using the “eBay product search” option, you can track a search query such as “iPhone 15 Pro refurbished”. Pricewatcha will automatically monitor the lowest price from the search results.

Does Pricewatcha use price ranges in eBay product search?

No. When eBay shows a price range in search results (e.g. “EUR 218.51 to EUR 692.53”) because a listing has multiple variations, we skip that result. Those listings often include products that do not match what you searched for—for example a cheaper, older model in a multi-model listing. We use the next search result with a clear single price instead—staying closer to what you see in the results list in your browser.

What happens if a product URL is no longer available?

If a product is no longer available at the shop, price updates will stop. You can manually remove the product from your list at any time.
